Voodoo Donuts - Portland, OR

 

Voodoo Donuts is a Portland icon. 

It's open 24 hours a day... 7 days a week. 

You can legally get married at the shop. 

They only accept cash.

Today my brother, Trace and I went. 

"Just look for the pink," said Andre. 

He was right. 

The store looks like someone put a rundown Dairy Queen, 

an appliance store, and a Pepto Bismol Jar into a blender together. 

And, out came doughnuts. 

At 2 p.m. on a Friday afternoon the joint was hopping. 

A Bacon Maple Bar went into a box along with a Powdered Sugar Vegan Doughnut, an apple fritter, and a Dirty Snowball (chocolate cake doughnuts with marshmallow topping, dipped in coconut and with a dollop of peanut butter in the middle). 

"Delicious coolness," said my 7 year-old son. 

I couldn't say anything... my mouth was full.
