I had never seen or even read about a Hindu ceremony until I had the honor of photographing one recently. Will and I enjoyed the food (Warm garlic nan - need I say more?) the bright colors, the graciousness of our hosts, but more than that this wedding was truly a celebration. Each moment in the wedding, each step, each gesture was infused with meaning ... even the Hena symbols on the brides hands and arms represented goals for the marriage. (To remain friends for the rest of their lives, to embrace each other's families, to remain faithful, to stand by each other in times of sadness and happiness, to raise strong loving children, to share values, to bring each other peace and happiness of body and soul.) Reflecting on the traditions and rituals of the wedding I am reminded of why we get married in the first place - to share a life... to be a partner... to be better than we are alone...
To love...
